4.More detail

We use benzalkonium chloride for our disinfection services, which is listed by the NEA as one of the disinfectants confirmed effective for SARS-CoV-2 virus (cause of COVID-19). Spaces and surfaces are thoroughly disinfected using benzalkonium chloride by a carefully planned process of space fogging and surface wiping. If cloth materials, such as mattresses and sofas have been exposed to infected persons, then we will take a non-chemical, heat treatment with a steamer.
It is critical to ensure there is no secondary contamination when cleaning infected areas. In addition to comprehensive virus disinfection measures, HYSIA staff take active steps to eliminate the risk of secondary contamination through the meticulous implementation of processes and workflow planning, and adherence to high safety standards, including guidelines on where protective clothing is put on and taken off, careful sanitization procedures and proper disposal of used materials.
After disinfection is complete, we send photographs of the disinfected area with details of the treatment carried out to the client’s email address. Our processes follow Singapore government guidelines and your family, staff and customers can feel safe after our treatment. Facilities can be used 6 hours after Preventive Disinfection, or 24 hours after Disinfection of Facilities with Confirmed Infection Cases.

5.FAQ

1

Is the company a government certified supplier of disinfection services?

The Singapore government does not certify or approve suppliers of COVID-19 disinfection services. However, our company complies with the designated guidelines, and HYSIA (trading as Dynamic Sanito SEA Pte. Ltd. in Singapore) is listed on the NEA website as a provider of these services.

We have submitted the required documentation to the government as certification of our credentials (details on disinfection procedures and specifications, chemicals used, staff education and training history and our operating personnel system).

2

What kind of chemicals does HYSIA use? Does it have any physical effects if it comes into contact with skin or is ingested?
We use benzalkonium chloride, which is also listed in the Singapore government’s Interim List of Household Products and Active Ingredients for Surface Disinfection of the COVID-19 Virus).

It is highly bactericidal and is used as an active ingredient for nasal drops and eye drops. It causes no adverse effects on the human body in small quantities, provided that usage guidelines on volume and concentration are properly observed. Extended contact with skin at high concentration may cause irritation and swelling.

Its other advantages include the fact that it is tasteless and odorless, and is therefore convenient to use. Because it is a cationic surfactant, it can be used as a cleaning substance as well as a bactericide.

3

Is it safe to use business premises the next day after disinfection work is carried out? Or is it necessary to wait for a certain number of days after disinfection work is complete?
In the case of disinfection work immediately after an incidence of COVID-19, the Singapore government guidelines are to avoid using the facility if possible for one day after the work has been carried out.

However, there are no restrictions for day after this or subsequent days. If an infected person has not been on the premises, the facilities can be used 6 hours after preventive disinfection work has been carried out.

4

How long does disinfection work take?
Can people enter the premises while the work is being carried out?

The time taken will depend on the area of the premises; it takes 2-3 hours to disinfect 100㎡. No access is allowed while the work is being carried out to prevent secondary contamination.

5

What needs to be done prior to disinfection work (for example tidying away dishes or food)?
Or is it better not to enter the premises beforehand?
It depends on whether the work carried out is Preventive Disinfection or Disinfection of Facilities with Confirmed Infection Cases. For preventive disinfection, please tidy up in advance and put away any food or personal belongings. Also, please vacuum the floor.

If your facility is already contaminated by an infected person, there is a risk of secondary infection, so please do not enter the premises or touch anything. We will dispose of any items left out, such as small consumables, dirty dishes or cutlery.

6

What is the procedure for reopening a restaurant or cafe after disinfection work has been carried out?
Singapore does not have any specific guidelines for restaurants when reopening after disinfection, but in some circumstances, such as when a cluster has occurred, it is probable that there will be specific instructions from the government. Unless otherwise instructed by the authorities, business can be resumed within a day after disinfection work, provided that the premises have been comprehensively disinfected.

7

How long do the bactericidal effects of disinfection last?
The bactericidal effect of disinfection is temporary. When disinfection is carried out, existing bacteria or viruses are eliminated, but if an infected person enters the premises after disinfection, contamination may reoccur. Business owners are therefore recommended to have their own disinfectant sprays and/or wipes on hand and to perform cleaning and disinfection themselves on a daily basis.

HYSIA also offers consulting services for customers wishing to create their own hygiene and disinfection manuals, and is happy to provide education and training for clients’ disinfection activities. Please feel free to contact us if you have any queries.
